Forging friendships and having fun at the parkrun

The Ruimsig parkrun welcomes community members to achieve milestones and foster new friendships.

Every Saturday, the Ruimsig parkrun grants the community the opportunity to voluntarily walk or run as well as create new friendships.

The scenic route at the Ruimsig Stadium makes it accessible to walkers, joggers and runners to comfortably finish their parkrun at their own pace. Recently, milestones were achieved as well as new friendships made.

Werner Roscher and Liza-Marie Kriel are two recent volunteers who achieved their first 50th milestone, which is a stepping stone to achieving more in the long run. Ruimsig parkrun director Nadine Crouch told the Northsider that there has been a rapid increase in new volunteers.

“We get weekly notice of new members, and it’s so great to see them coming out to the stadium with their families as well. It’s a fun and active way of spending your Saturday morning.

“We have these adorable little girls who have become best of friends. They are always doing the parkrun together, and we hope to see them making a career out of their amazing speed and agility,” Nadine said.
