Happy feet and happy faces

The prestigious Clearwater 10km race and 5km fun run marks a decade of bringing runners together for a fun filled morning of exercise and new milestones.

The weekend was filled with sun, sweat and lots of smiles at the Clearwater Mall 10km Race and 5km Fun Run on August 24 as the community came together with their shared love for running to participate in the annual event.

The event has become a beloved annual tradition in the running community, and this year’s event was particularly special as it marked the 10th anniversary of the race and the 30th anniversary of the host, the Panorama Running Club.

“This year’s race marked our most successful event post-Covid, drawing over 2 000 participants. While no records were set, we were honoured to have Rene Kalmer, the women’s record holder, who participated and took second place in her category. She also assisted in the prize-giving ceremony.

“This event was a significant undertaking, and as the club, we thank Clearwater Mall for trusting us to host this race. A special thanks go to our event organisers, Andrew Morisson-Young, Sharon and Alwin Hempel, and Claire Fauchet from LIFCO for rallying the Little Falls community behind the event.

“The atmosphere was electric, with many clubs and residents, young and old, joining in the fun. The sound of laughter and chatter filled the air as participants warmed up and prepared for the start. As the races began, the smiles and determination on the faces of the runners were palpable.

“Determined as they were, the highlight was seeing how the runners motivated one another as runners completed their respective distances and crossed the finish line to cheers and applause.”

Their sense of accomplishment and pride was evident as they collected their medals and celebrated their achievements with friends and family.
