Monique the reigning queen of wellness bodybuilding

A fearless bodybuilder represents the West Rand in the IFBBA SA Championship winning first place in her category.

Monique Giraud-Groener, an unstoppable force in wellness bodybuilding, has dominated the scene with her dedication, passion and perseverance, inspiring countless others to chase their dreams.

Her journey began in 2007 and her transformation from a fitness enthusiast to a competitive bodybuilder is a testament to her unwavering commitment. Training three to four hours a day at Virgin Active and Gold’s Gym, under the guidance of JLAB brand coaches and fuelled by JLAB nutrition supplements, Monique has honed her physique to perfection.

Her impressive resume boasts a hat-trick win in 2022 and a reign as the SA champ for the wellness over 35 years division for three years. Recent victories at the West Rand Provincials and the BodyBuilding South Africa (BBSA) IFBB South African (SA) Championship which took place in Durban have further solidified her position as a top contender.

The IFBB SA Championship is a competition for professional bodybuilding and fitness athletes to showcase their talent.

“My routine is strict, with a typical day consisting of five hours at the gym, seven days a week. I also have a diet plan that becomes increasingly stricter as competition approaches, with 25 weeks of preparation leading up to each event.

“This, for me, builds discipline, and representing the West Rand is such an honour. I feel a deep sense of responsibility to perform at her best, knowing that her community counts on her to bring home top honours.

“I hope I can inspire those around me to chase their dreams,” Monique said.

With her sights set on representing SA at the world championships next year, she is more determined than ever to push the boundaries of what’s possible.

She told the Roodepoort Record that her plans also include helping aspiring athletes navigate the world of bodybuilding, ensuring that her legacy extends far beyond her own achievements.
