Karate excellence on display

The top six dojos competed at the OGKK Gauteng Kata Championships.

The Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karatedo Kyokai Gauteng Kata Championships took place in July at Fontainebleau Primary School and showcased the best of Gauteng’s karate talent.

Six leading dojos namely Palm Court Karate, ATG Karate, Charterhouse Karate, Radford House Karate, Karate Kids and Randburg Karate competed in a thrilling display of skill and discipline.

With 200 competitors competing for top honours in 28 divisions, the championships were a testament to the growth and excellence of karate in the region.

The event featured both Kata and unison Kata competitions, pushing athletes to demonstrate their mastery of technique, synchronisation and focus.

Sensei Mario Sequeira of Palm Court Karate said that the competition was a platform for karateka to showcase their abilities, learn from one another and strive for excellence.

“We are proud of every competitor who took part, and I look forward to seeing their continued growth and development in the sport,” he added.
