Young golfer dreaming of playing professionally

17-year-old Jayden Hoskins receives a golf scholarship to study at a university in the USA.

For many, golf is perceived as a sport reserved for the older generation, but 17-year-old Jayden Hoskins is on a mission to shatter this stereotype.

This talented young man is a member of the CMR Golf Club in Maraisburg, and he aspires to play golf professionally in the future.

He currently plays off a +4.3 handicap and is the only junior player from South Africa who has been awarded a life-changing scholarship to attend the Congaree Global Golf Initiative (CGGI) Golf Clinic Class of 2024 in Scotland, set to take place on August 2–10.

Additionally, after his golf clinic attendance in August, he will be offered an amazing four-year USA University Golf Scholarship after matriculation, which will be fully financed by the Congaree Foundation.

Speaking to the Roodepoort Record, Jayden mentioned that his passion for golf took root at the age of three, influenced by his father, who was a golf player and enthusiast.

“I started participating in tournaments at around the age of six, competing in events and achieving considerable success. It was during my primary school days that I realised my talent for golf, constantly improving and showcasing my natural ability in larger golf events, earning recognition for my performances.

“I feel an overwhelming sense of elation that my hard work has been rewarded. I will have the opportunity to work with experienced academic and athletic consultants who will guide me toward the best collegiate golf programs for me.

“Securing a golf scholarship in 2026 for the following four years feels like a dream come true and represents a significant milestone in my career, something I have always aspired to achieve,” he said.

Jayden has many golf accolades under his name, ranging from winning the Pecanwood Golf Tournament in 2018 to the TSGE Tournament in 2017, and there is no doubt that his future is looking bright.
