Abel the rising star
Riding instructor and student paves his way to success and he triumphs at adult riding championships.
Abel Mokgwateng (28) is a name to remember in the dressage community. This talented young rider has been making a name for himself with his impressive skills and dedication to the sport.
As a student, instructor and work rider at Glover Paddocks, Abel has had the opportunity to hone his craft and compete at high levels. Abel’s journey in dressage began with his training with the Lipizzaners, where he honed his skills in advanced riding and lunging programmes. This training prepared him well for the competitive world of dressage, and he has since gone on to compete at high levels.
According to owner Kerryn Maher, the rising star recently competed at Horse of the Year on the Appaloosa stallion, Kondos Madiba, and brought home an impressive array of awards.
“Abel placed first in both the Appaloosa Show Riding and Working Riding, second place in the Appaloosa Show Hunting, and overall he is the Adult Riding Champion.
“His students look up to him as a role model, and his colleagues respect him for his expertise and work ethic. As Abel continues to grow and develop as a rider and instructor, we can expect to see great things from him in the future,” Kerryn said.
