Curro girls undefeated in soccer festival

Curro Wilgeheuwel emerges victorious at the Waterstone College Soccer Cup claiming their 2024 title win.

Waterstone College hosted its annual Soccer Cup on June 17, inviting Curro Wilgeheuwel teams to participate.

Among the highlights were the achievements of the U13 and high school girls’ teams, which left a lasting impression on the tournament. The U13 girls’ team played six pool matches, all of which they won.

Their dominance reflected not only their teamwork and dedication but also their remarkable goal-scoring prowess, resulting in an impressive 42 goals scored throughout the tournament.

In their final match against Waterstone College, where they narrowly lost 3–2, their performance throughout the tournament showcased their amazing skills despite their loss.

The U19 Curro coach, Malefetsane Mahlatse, noted that the teams were more than ready to reclaim their 2023 title. “We had to train hard because this is one of our biggest soccer tournaments, and Waterstone is our biggest competition.

“I am so proud of how the teams played their hearts out,” Malefetsane said.

Her guidance led the high school girls’ team to victory, defending their 2023 title. The teams played seven games, which they all won. Their flawless record solidified their status as the top contenders at the tournament.
