Riders witness showjumping on a global stage

Glover Paddocks riders embark on a European experience at one of the top equestrian facilities.

It is a dream come true for young equestrian rider Kendra Forsyth, who is currently in the Netherlands with her fellow riders to train at one of the top facilities.

Progressing as a young and talented rider from Glover Paddocks, Kendra’s journey to this very moment has been marked by hard work and her passion for the sport she dearly loves.

Her recent success, where she secured two first-place titles with her noble and very active steed Abybos at the President’s Cup held at Maple Ridge Equestrian Farm in March, and her progression to jumping at 1.10m is a significant milestone, demonstrating her ability to adapt and push herself to new heights.

She is accompanied by her coach, Tasmin Maher, and some of her fellow riders from Glover Paddocks on this amazing European experience. One of the highlights will be the opportunity to train with the renowned Michael van Eck, a highly respected coach with a wealth of experience in the equestrian sport.

“This fantastic opportunity will provide Kendra with invaluable insights and guidance, helping her to refine her skills and prepare for future competitions,” her mother, Jodie Forsyth, said.

Kendra told the Roodepoort Northsider that she looks forward to watching a show at the iconic Concours Hippique International Officiel Aachen World Equestrian Festival in Germany.

The festival consists of the classic equestrian disciplines of jumping, dressage, driving, and the newly-added eventing and vaulting, which were incorporated into the show in 2007. The annual highlight is the Aachen Grand Prix, the jumping competition held on Sunday, July 7.

“This experience will give her a unique perspective on the sport, allowing her to observe and learn from the best riders in the world. It will not only benefit her equestrian career but also bring recognition to her team at the centre as well as upcoming competitions,” says coach Tasmin.
