Mandisa’s cricket excellence recognised

Arthur Matthews Primary School cricket coach wins a prestigious award.

Arthur Matthews Primary School foundation phase department head, cricket coach, and co-ordinator, Mandisa Mpembe, was recognised for her outstanding contribution to the sport when she received the Mini Cricket Co-ordinator of the Season Award at the prestigious Lions Awards.

The awards took place earlier in June at the Maslow Hotel in Sandton, and Mandisa was among the dedicated cricket players, coaches and co-ordinators who were thrilled to be part of this event.

As a dedicated member of KFC Mini Cricket, Mandisa said she is thrilled to have been recognised among the best players in the game, and she believed that this achievement can help others pursue their dreams and strive for excellence in their own chosen field.

“This recognition is truly a proud moment for me, as it acknowledges my hard work and dedication to the sport of cricket,” she said.

According to Mandisa, KFC Mini Cricket is a modified version of cricket designed specifically for children aged five to 10. She said it’s a fun, interactive, and developmental programme aimed at introducing young players to the game of cricket safely and enjoyably.

“The programme focuses on developing fundamental movement skills, teamwork, and basic cricket skills, such as batting, bowling, and fielding. The games are played with soft balls, plastic bats, and smaller pitches, making it easier for young players to learn and enjoy the game,” she said.

Mandisa thanked all the parents and players who showed dedication and enthusiasm towards this programme and all the stakeholders who made her dream possible.
