Community supports young footballer’s dreams

To celebrate Youth Day, a tournament was hosted to raise funds and enjoy the beautiful game of football.

Excitement and community spirits were high at the Youth Day Soccer Festival hosted at Fives Futbol Hillfox Centre on June 16 to raise funds for a young football player’s journey to the prestigious Bill Steward Soccer Tournament.

Mason Brown is a Grade Five learner at Florida Primary School and is selected to represent the West Rand in the Bill Steward tournament set to take place in Limpopo from June 22 to 26.

“His achievement is not just a personal triumph but a moment to be proud of for everyone who has witnessed his dedication and passion for the sport. This fundraiser also allowed players to enjoy their youth through the game they are passionate about,” says Jason King, his coach.

Organised by his family and his coach, the tournament not only showcased youthful athleticism but also railed support for a rising star aiming for greatness.

Teams geared up for a much-anticipated five-a-side football tournament against teams starting from U8 to seniors.

“The community’s unwavering support was evident in every smile and every donation made, reflecting a shared commitment to nurturing young talent and making dreams come true.

“Mason embodies the spirit of determination and sportsmanship. I am overwhelmed with joy with the turnout and support received from the community and teams that participated.

“It means the world to me to have this much support as we prepare for this major opportunity,” says Mason’s mother, Justine Brown.
