Welties triumph at netball playoffs

The U12 netball girls from Weltevreden Park Primary had a phenomenal 2024 season, showcasing their skills and dedication on the court.

Selected from a pool of talented competing teams, the girls have demonstrated exceptional skills, teamwork, and dedication, earning them a chance to compete in the Gauteng Netball Playoffs at Hoërskool Randburg on June 8.

Their playoffs began with a flawless performance in their pool games, winning all matches. This outstanding record led them to finish at the top of their pool, earning them a spot at the highly competitive Johannesburg and Mogale (Jomo) trials.

According to coaches Lizelle Scheepers and Tania Eyssen, the girls played their hearts out and made their mark on the court. After starting with the team from U10, they have progressed together with memories to cherish.

“The playoffs featured the best teams from across the province, and our girls held their own, finishing in an impressive 11th place,” Lizelle and Tania say.

The team’s devotion and dedication to the game were evident throughout the season, and their achievements are a testament to their hard work and talent.
