Golf days are the best days

Local firefighters association host its annual golf day to raise funds and support their mission of serving and saving lives within their community.

The Community Group Firefighters Association (CGFA) hosted its annual fundraising golf day on June 7 at the Eagle Canyon Golf Estate.

The non-profit organisation is known for its courageous firefighters who dedicate their lives to serving their community. The community showed big support and appreciation for their firefighters by participating and also inviting their friends to tag along in a blissful afternoon of playing golf and enjoying the views of the golf estate.

According to community firefighter Anton Gerber, the turnout of the golf day was a success not only with their supporters but also with sponsors, as well as a special live broadcast from the Breakfast on Demand (919 FM) team featuring Shane Hunter and co-host Dayle Robyn Mallinson.

“Today was about bringing people together and we are so excited to be part of this great imitative today and supporting the local firefighters who rarely get recognition for their amazing work to serve the community.

“Being a community-based music radio station offered to do the live broadcast as a way of raising more awareness about community associations and the difference they make,” Shane said.

Players were divided into groups of four where each team received four balls, two golf carts, access to the halfway house, prize giving and dinner for all four players.

“It was an exceptional day filled with great fun and memories to last a lifetime. We were able to raise some much-needed funding that will be used to support and assist the communities in which we operate, to the best of our abilities.

“We wouldn’t be able to continue to serve our community without our supporters, players and sponsors and of course our incredible team,” Anton said.
