Hoërskool Roodepoort coach and athlete break 13-year drought

It is the first time since 2011 that the school boasts with a national coach and athlete.

Caden Dalai, a Roodie long jump athlete, and his coach Levarno Rankoe have been selected as part of the SA athletics team.

A proud coach Levarno said, “Caden has been dreaming of this opportunity since starting high school. He worked hard this season and his performance throughout has been consistent.” Leavarno has coached Caden for the past four years and will be the track coach for the SA team.

Caden’s achievements so far, include:

• Second place at the Top 15 meet with a distance of 6.92m
• First place at the Super Inter meet with a distance of 6.89m (He broke the record as well)
• First place at the Roodepoort Championships with a distance of 6.72m
• First place at the D12 championships with a distance of 6.68m
• Third place at the Gauteng Championships with a distance of 6.88m

This is the first time since 2011 that the school produced a national athlete and coach. Furthermore, the school is also proud of the duo for representing Hoërskool Roodepoort at the D12 and Gauteng Championships.
