Trinity swimmers rake in the medals

Trinityhouse Little Falls swimmers showed their mettle in the this season's swimming competitions.

Trinityhouse Little Falls competed in the D League Inter High swimming gala against Benoni High School, King David Linksfield, Fourways High School and Beaulieu College and came out victorious with an impressive 754 points.

According to principal Shaun Hansel, this means that in 2025, the school’s swimmers will progress up to the C League.

Ryan Botha proved himself a swimmer of note breaking records in the 50m backstroke as well as the 50m freestyle events.

Ethan Engelke just missed the record for the 200m freestyle, but he did manage a new record in the 50m butterfly.

The school’s U14, U17 and Open Mixed Relay teams all broke records in their events.

Trinityhouse swimmers also took part in the end-of-season Prestige Gala held at St Stithians.

Trinityhouse Little Falls supporters are the best.

“To qualify for the Prestige Gala, swimmers had to place either first or second at the Inter-High,” says Shaun. “Our phenomenal achievements at Inter-High meant that we had 20 swimmers qualify to swim at Prestige.

“Most of our swimmers placed in the top 10 in all their events.”

Gianluca Torricelli won a silver medal in the senior boys’ 200m individual medley and a bronze medal for the open 50m breaststroke.

Ethan Engelke won gold in both the U17 50m backstroke and the U17 50m butterfly events.

Ryan Botha took gold in the U14 50m freestyle event, setting a new record in the process. He also won a silver medal in the U14 50m backstroke.

The school’s open relay team won bronze in the open mixed medley relay and the U14 relay team won bronze in the U14 freestyle relay event.

These achievements placed Trinityhouse Little Falls high on the leaderboard, at third overall.
