D12 netball hosts its second round of trials

The second round of trials took place at Crawford International Ruimsig to select the teams that would represent the D12 netball district.

With netball season in full swing, the D12 region hosted its second round of trials at Crawford International Ruimsig.

According to David Maree, the chairperson of D12 netball, the trials were hosted for the U14 to U17 girls. This is where the girls have the opportunity to play for a position in one of the four teams to represent the D12 in the next round. The next round will be the inter-district trials taking place at Krugersdorp High School.

“The girls are giving it their all this afternoon and I have encouraged them to be brave and remember to stay kind and show sportsmanship in their drive to make the D12 team,” says David.

The district trials will lead to the Johannesburg and Mogale (Jomo) regional trials. This will then determine if they get selected for the Gauteng provincial teams.

Ronelle Nell, the Gauteng Schools chairperson and deputy principal of Hoërskool Florida, believes that West Rand netball players have a lot of potential to make the provincial teams.
