Roodepoort Rugby scrums it up this season

This was the first game of the season for all U21 to senior teams. The teams geared up for 80 minutes of back-to-back tackling and trying to start their season off with a win. Theuns Naudé, the chairperson of the club, emphasised how at first he was nervous for the first game but felt confident that his boys would play their hearts out.

“We have a strong base together with a lot of youngsters. Our goal is to be in the playoffs of the Pirates Grand Challenge and then obviously to qualify for the Gold Cup at the end of the season,” Theuns adds.

The U21 team won their game with a close score of 7–5 leaving their tired bodies relieved from playing their hearts out. Unfortunately, the first and second teams lost to Impala.

Theuns however does not see this loss as a setback for the team, but rather a game plan for the upcoming season.

“As players get to know each other, it will create more chemistry and we will get better,” he concludes.
