Youngsters excited to learn more about soccer in the UK

Two boys representing Supersport United Academy were selected for the Manchester Cup in England.

Being dedicated to the growth and progression of young footballers to be the best they can be, Global Soccer Schools, partnered with Supersport United Soccer Schools, brings a holistic footballing service that caters to young and upcoming footballer’s journeys.

Two juniors, Tshepo Setou and Jayden Tsavangira, were selected to represent the Super Sport Junior Academy at the New Balance Manchester International Easter Cup in England from March 26 to April 9.

The cup is sanctioned by the English Football Association and brings together teams from across the world. This tournament promises world-class football facilities at Manchester City’s former training ground, Platt Lane. Tshepo joined the academy in July 2022 and Jayden joined in June 2019 and as junior players, they show exceptional skills and promise as future football stars.

At the age of 12, they were selected to represent Superport United Football Club in the Gauteng Development League (GDL).

“The boys are very talented young boys and with only a short time of them joining the academy, their skills are unmatched. Jayden is a left-footed player who can play defence or midfield and Tshepo is right-footed and is nice and comfortable,” Shannon Allan, of Global Soccer Schools said. Shannon proudly spoke of how the academy has expanded over the years by moving into new countries to open new sports clubs such as Zambia, New Zealand and two soccer schools in Manchester, England.

The boys will also get the opportunity to meet players from Burnley, including the former Bafana Bafana player Lyle Foster who now plays for Burnley.

“The boys will be playing in Futsal tournaments and will be attending live football matches of both the Premier League and Championship League. On April 6 we will take the boys to watch the Wolves vs Burnley live match,” Lyle said.

Lyle added that the boys are excited to meet his son which will motivate them to dream bigger and believe that they can also play for the Premier League one day. The boys will get the chance to also train at the Manchester Training Facility. As coaches and fathers to two successful football players, Lance and Shannon feel very privileged when players as young as Tshepo and Jayden are so talented and progressing further with their football careers.

Shannon and Lyle told the Roodepoort Northsider how they always make it about the children and not about them, and if there is any reward for such achievements, the reward goes to the children.
