Fitness fun at Ruimsig parkrun
The Ruimsig parkrun is going from strength to strength, attracting more participants with nearly every event.
The Ruimsig parkrun on February 10 was one for the books, attracting a large number of runners from all walks of life.
According to run director Danny Pretorius, the Ruimsig parkrun is attracting more and more people, recently reaching the milestone of 486 visitors – the most for a single run since Covid-19 restrictions were lifted.
This is even more of an achievement considering the parkrun at Ruimsig is known as one of the more challenging local runs.
The top five finishers for this week were Cornè de Fouw, who finished first in a time of 20.01. He was followed by Matthew Williams (20.19), Maritagane Mapheto finished third with 22.42, and hot on his heels was Putsoane Mashita (22.48). Craig Marshall finished in fifth place with 23.15.
This was also a special occasion for Kathy Lear, who completed her 100th parkrun this week, and her husband Stephen, who finished his 120th. They have been running as part of the Muldersdrift Union Church Milers for the past two years.
