Boxing club has high hopes for the new year

With a new year, new goals are in sight for the boxers of Vikings Boxing Club.

Vikings Boxing Club shared their goals for the year.

Hendrik du Plooy, the head coach, explained their main goal is to go to the Gauteng Championship and then the SA Championships.

He said their first step in training is to work on the boxers’ fitness after which they will proceed to the footwork and then training them using the boxing bags and pad work.

The boxers ranging from seven years old to 23 years old include Leandri Botha and Gabriella du Plooy, who has had three fights where a technical knockout was declared in the first round and this will be her first year competing in the Gauteng Championships.

Kian Otto on the other hand has had six fights, where he hasn’t lost one. Hendrik explained he is however too young to compete in the Gauteng championships just yet.
