Florida Park Tennis Club celebrates youngest senior champion

The 14-year-old player has big dreams about playing professionally.

Jordan Haynes (14) is the youngest men’s senior tennis champion in the history of Florida Park Tennis Club.

Jordan explained he competed for the club’s Champs Men’s title and subsequently became the youngest player to receive the title. His dad Farrel explained he has been playing tennis for seven years now, aside from cricket and rugby. He continued that this year, Jordan decided to focus more on his tennis and already received such an accomplishment.

“From what I could see he is the fastest-improving child in South Africa,” said his dad.

The pair also played in the doubles tournament together, which they won.

According to Farrel, Jordan is currently the 47th U14 in the country and ninth in Gauteng Central. He added they would need sponsorship for Jordan to continue his tennis journey as the equipment and travel is rather expensive. He played a tournament on December 9 where he finished third and beat number one in Gauteng Central and he still has two more tournaments in six days to play.

He concluded he hopes to play tennis professionally one day. Anyone interested in sponsoring Jordan can contact Farrel on 062 556 0665.
