Fleurhof Primary School receives new soccer field from development company

Following a development mandate, property company Calgro M3 has recently handed over a new soccer field and some equipment to Fleurhof Primary School.

A property development agency handed over a brand new soccer field to Fleurhof Primary School on November 25 as part of ongoing development within communities.

Calgro M3 identified a need in the community for a soccer field near the school, which aims to enhance education through sports participation with the field being a full-sized facility that can be used for matches and training.

According to Danie Cronje, development manager at Calgro M3, they will remain involved in Fleurhof for years, providing additional support and ensuring the field meets established standards.

“The field is open for community use, and Calgro has provided guidance on maintenance and donated a lawnmower for field care. The school will actively manage the use and ensure sustainability,” Danie said.

While education and community upliftment are key Corporate Social Investment drivers, Calgro said they have plans to further develop or contribute to educational drives within the community.

According to Dineo Masela, deputy chairperson of Fleurhof’s School Governing Body, parents were informed about the benefits of the project following the school’s curriculum and extracurricular activities and was supported by donations like lawnmowers, engraved T-shirts, soccer balls, nets, scoreboards, poles, and water access.

“The rules will be enforced during and after hours to prevent vandalism and crime. The school will manage with an allocated budget.

“Challenges faced include learners having to move 500 radius away from the school due to inadequate facilities for sports area demarcation, political interference by Calgro M3 Group, and disagreements from community members against using the sports ground, as well as budget allocation for other initiatives,” Dineo said.
