Ruimsig strongman appeals for sponsorship for Official Strongman Games 2023 in USA

Ruimsig-based strongman is gathering funds to help him represent South Africa at this year's Official Strongman Games in the USA.

Local strongman, Terence Bosman (27), has secured an invite to the Official Strongman Games being held on December 1, 2, and 3 in Charleston, West Virginia at the Coliseum.

He will represent South Africa against some of the strongest men in the world.

Terence has been competing in strength sports for the past nine years starting as an under 105kg strongman when he was 18 years old then moving into powerlifting at age 20 where he competed for three years securing several international and national titles, as well as being presented with Protea Colours.

He returned to the strongman fold at the age of 23 to pursue the dream of competing at the World’s Strongest Man. Terence has devoted his life to sport, completing his degree in Sports Psychology from the University of Johannesburg in 2018 after which he got involved in the fitness industry as a personal trainer, powerlifting and strongman coach.

The Official Strongman Games is a festival of strength that brings together hundreds of the top Strongmen and Strongwomen athletes from over 30 countries. The athletes will be competing for the World’s Strongest title across multiple divisions. The official strongman games have become the final stepping stone in the path to reaching the World’s Strongest Man.

“Everyone who knows me, knows that I won’t put myself in a position where I am not 100% confident in my ability to succeed and do my best,” exclaimed Terence, emphasising that he hopes to place in the top three strongmen and reach his lifelong dream of participating in the World’s Strongest Man.

According to Terence, each athlete invited to represent their country at the Official Strongman Games is required to raise their own funding to cover their competition expenses.

“We are seeking to raise R85 500 through our sponsorship program to cover a portion of these primary costs,” elaborated Terence.

He also gave a cost breakdown of the funds required:

• Flights to America and connecting flights within America R50 000
• Accommodation for the week of the competition R30 000
• Competition entry fee R5 500

Terence has set out a corporate sponsorship programme to help raise funds, but he is also appealing to those in his community to help him realise his dream by donating towards his trip to America.
