Ridgecrest Family Church hosts soccer clinic at Allen Glen High

The group of churchgoers enjoyed a day out in the sun playing soccer and worshipping with the children in attendance.

Forty-four children from the community and schools in the Radiokop and surrounding areas were invited to a soccer clinic by Ridgecrest Family Church at Allen Glen High School on July 22.

The children enjoyed a day of fun and festivities as they played soccer-based activities. According to Leanne Cundill, as a part of Ridgecrest Family Church’s mission, they are reaching the community by building relationships and spreading the good news of Jesus.

“This was a fun day for all who were in attendance, parents and children alike,” she added.

The children and parents arrived for registration at 9:00, and the children were split into teams, where they built relationships and made new friends, explained Leanne, adding that after registration they had a fun warm-up which was much needed in the cold weather.

“They enjoyed soccer drills of various types run by the congregation of the church. During lunchtime with a free hotdog and juice, the devotion team shared a gospel message on Romans 3:23 and the kids learnt that we all fall short of the glory of God, but Jesus came to make sure we don’t fall short,” she continued, adding that they then all versed each other in friendly soccer matches.

The events were followed by a prizegiving and each child received a certificate and a medal. Finally, the parents and coaches even joined in the fun by ending the day with a game of dads versus coaches.
