5 Ruimsig kickboxers on their way to the world champs in England

Bragging rights for dojo as a number of their fighters will be representing their country in England later this year.

A group of talented kickboxers from Triple Threat Dojo (TTD) took part in Ring Contact Fighting Arts’ (RCFA) National Championships at Emerald Casino in May. The gold medal winners were invited to the World Kickboxing Championships that will be hosted in England from August 2 to 8.

The National Championship featured various fighting modes including semi-contact, millennium divisions, full-contact and low-kick fights. In total the TTD fighters bagged nine gold medals and two silver. Christo Ankersmit (16) received gold in millennium nationals, Chloe Assad (16) won three gold medals, first gold in millennium nationals, her second gold in the millennium jungle war and her third gold in the millennium main event.

Brett Heslop (18) is going to represent South Africa this year at the World Championships.

Thandie Mahlangu (18) won silver in the full contact nationals and Brett Heslop (18) won his first gold in millenium nationals, then his second gold in millennium jungle war and finally, a third gold medal in the semi-contact nationals. Rachelle Seyfferdt (23) won silver in the semi-contact nationals, as well as gold in the semi-contact jungle war. Last, but not least, Camielle Goldstone won gold in the semi-contact nationals.

Camielle Goldstone (33) is going to represent South Africa this year at the World Championships.

Wade Rendall, coach at TTD, won Coach of the Year for 2022 and has been selected to represent South Africa alongside his four fighters at the World Championships.

The TTD team will be hosting a fundraising market at their dojo on July 15 to help get their fighters to England. Women’s self-defence classes will be also be taking place, as well as a controlled fight between TTD fighters.
