Local dancer named National Ballroom Champion

Participating in international competitions can be costly, and Jumah is currently seeking funding and sponsorship to support his journey to the World Championship.

Local dancer Jumah Mohammed has been named the National Ballroom Champion at the annual South African Dance Foundation National Ballroom and Latin Dance Championship.

Jumah who has been dancing ballroom for 12 years, first fell in love with the art form and quickly discovered a natural talent for it.

His dedication and passion for dance have earned him recognition in the dance community and invitations to perform at prestigious events, including the International Dance Festival.

Jumah said that his ultimate goal is to share the joy of ballroom dance with as many people as possible and inspire others to pursue their passions.

At the National Ballroom and Latin Dance Championship, Jumah impressed the judges with his dynamic performances and flawless technique, earning him the title of national champion.

He will also represent South Africa in the 2023 WDC Amateur League (WDC AL) World Championship, the most prestigious event in the Ballroom and Latin dance world.

As Jumah prepares for the World Championship, he is determined to make his country proud and bring home a top prize.

However, participating in international competitions can be costly, and Jumah is currently seeking funding and sponsorships to support his journey to the World Championship.

He is grateful for any support he can get and hopes that with the help of sponsors and donors, he can focus on training and performing to the best of his abilities.

“I am dedicated to promoting dancing and making it more accessible and inclusive of everyone,” said Jumah.

The Saint Ballroom Foundation was founded by Jumah, bringing the sport and art of Ballroom and Latin to all communities.

He regularly performs at community events and works with local schools to teach and inspire the next generation of dancers.

The local dancer also teaches Ballroom and Latin dancing to children from the age of five years at Saint Ballroom Dance Studio in Roodekrans.

He has a natural talent for the art form and has helped new and beginner dancers to win provincial and national competitions.

With the support of the community, Jumah is confident that he will make South Africa proud at the World Championship.
