Fundraiser for your favourite asses: a great success!

Tracey's fundraising efforts were noticed by many publications after the initial interview and through hard work and many Facebook posts where Tracey was able to sell 81 tickets for the donkeys.

Tracey Christie’s brave decision to run her first marathon for a worthy fundraising cause for her favorite group of donkeys at the Rest Ur Ass Donkey Sanctuary, was covered in the Northsider!

The fundraiser’s goal is to raise both funds and awareness for the rescue and their friendly furry friends. Tracey will fly to Cape Town on October 14 and return on October 16 following the marathon. “Life has been so busy,” Tracey explained, “fortunately keeping my mind from overthinking the marathon this weekend.”

Tracey’s fundraising efforts were noticed by many publications after the Northsider’s initial interview and through hard work and many, many Facebook posts, Tracey was able to sell 81 tickets for the donkeys.

“We have raised about R15 200 so far. We are hoping to go up to R16 000 or R17 000 but we are really really thankful for the support and positive feedback we have received,” added Tracey.

She also mentioned that her shoe tags, which are small metal tags that attach to your shoe laces and help motivate runners to keep going, had arrived. The Rest Ur Ass logo and the quote, “Whatever the mind can believe, the body can achieve” appear on these tags.
“Overall, I’m hoping to complete the marathon in under five hours, which may be a bit ambitious. I believe we are all hoping for cool weather and strong legs,” Tracey concluded.
