Local dancers qualify to represent Gauteng at Nationals

According to Claire Visagie who is the Director at Glam Dance Company, they are high-performance dancers who compete at various dance/ performing arts competitions regularly.

Glam Dance Company dancers Rorisang Kwele, Kalinda Harmse and Lara Visagie recently attended the South African Body of Dance (SABoD) Performing Arts and Street Dance Qualifier – Dance Sport South Africa Champions League in KwaZulu-Natal.

The trio also competed in the World Trial Circuit sections for their respective age groups in the hopes to qualify to represent Gauteng at the SABoD Nationals in August, and they did really well.

All three dancers have qualified to represent Gauteng at Nationals in August in the hope of qualifying to represent South Africa at the International Dance Organization abroad.

According to Claire Visagie who is the Director at Glam Dance Company, they are high-performance dancers who compete at various dance/ performing arts competitions regularly.

They put in 17 to 20 hours training per week and are trained by Kate Retief (RAD Ballet), Franco Wagener (ISTD Modern, Musical Theatre & Tap), Tamzin Stone (Acrobatic Arts – Acrobatics and Contemporary) and Shaun Zitha (Hip Hop).

“We are extremely proud of them; they are very dedicated and hardworking young ladies, committed to their craft and their progress, not only in their dance technique but in their artistry. They have been incredible to watch,” said Lara.

The Glam Foundation (fundraising division of Glam Dance Company) is doing a charity event at Pug Rescue on July 23 to raise funds for their organisation, and some of the Glam Dancers will be performing on the day.

Glam Dance Company is based in Honeydew and is a place where kids of all ages, shapes and sizes from Roodepoort and surrounding areas learn to dance and perform.
