Tough battle at the top of the SAPS West Rand Soccer League

Roodepoort SAPS have toppled Magaliesburg SAPS who were on top of the log, thanks to their consistent form that saw them enjoy a convoy of victories.

Proving to be a successful maiden season of the SAPS West Rand Soccer League, scheduled fixtures just before the end of the first leg kicked off on Wednesday, July 6 with a number of league matches played in different venues.

One of the main attractions to fans was the repeat match between Honeydew SAPS and South West Gauteng College (SWGC) which was ordered to be replayed after the two teams disagreed on a contravention of the rules earlier this year.

SWGC who at some stage topped the log suffered a humiliating 4–0 defeat against Honeydew SAPS in their first leg battle that was played at the Kagiso Sports Complex.

SWGC’s spokesperson Lebona Mako revealed that they were outplayed in all areas by their opponents and did not deserve to get anything from the fixture.

For Honeydew SAPS, the deserved win saw them maintain their four-match unbeaten record in the seasons while they go up to sixth on the log.

SWGC sits uncomfortably at the bottom of the table on top of Masters with a one-point difference.
