Allen Glen High School rugby well represented in District selections

All age groups represented for teams going to Prestige Youth Sport Rhino Week

A school holiday is just an excuse to ditch the books for more time on the field.

The Blue Machine will be well represented at the upcoming Prestige Youth Sport Rhino Week as their entire coaching staff and a host of players from all age groups were selected. They will all represent the Golden Lions Central West District which is made up of schools throughout Western Johannesburg. Beginning on June 29, the multi-sport festival will be an opportunity to test themselves against other districts from the northern parts of the country.

Allen Glen will be sending four U/14s, ten U/15s and four U/16s to the Rhino Week being held in Vereeniging. The largest contingent will come from their first team players, with 14 of the first string being selected for their age group. The bulk selection is another feather in the team’s cap, having recently qualified for the final of their league campaign with a win away in Magaliesburg, beating Hoërskool Bekker 10–8.

The First XV were not the only ones to qualify for the finals as the U/14s, U/15s and U/16s all won their semifinals to make it a four-star season. When the players return from district duty, it will be full steam ahead for the finals scheduled for July 23.
