Runners invited to join Global Running Day celebration

Runners can choose their own location and route, and must include the following three hashtags #RunYourCity, #RUNPUMA and #GlobalRunningDay.

The Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series is inviting runners nationwide to celebrate Global Running Day in style on Wednesday, June 1 by taking on the fun-filled Global Running Day 5K challenge on Strava.

To be part of the challenge and eligible to win a pair of PUMA NITRO Running Shoes, runners must join the RUN YOUR CITY Series Running Club on Strava and click on the orange “I’m in” button displayed next to the Global Running Day 5K event listing.

“We’re excited to celebrate Global Running Day ‘virtually’ with the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series community. What makes the Strava Challenges fantastic is that runners nationwide can sign up and be part of the action as it is virtual,” said Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and founder of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series.

Entrants need to complete the 5km run anywhere and anytime between 17:00 to 23:00 on Wednesday and not forget to record their run using a smartphone (Android or iPhone device) or smart watch (Garmin, TomTom, SUUNTO, Fitbit, Polar etc.).

To be in the running to win a pair of PUMA NITRO running shoes, entrants must share their activities, routes and photos to the RUN YOUR CITY Series Running Club on Strava by no later than 23:00 on Wednesday.

Runners can choose their own location and route, and must include the following three hashtags #RunYourCity, #RUNPUMA and #GlobalRunningDay.

All runners must protect their health and safety and that of others by social-distancing while running.

Runners are encouraged to stay up to date on the latest news and guidelines from their local and national authorities.
