Boys’ Team competition to be a showstopper at Ruimsig Athletics Stadium

The qualifying provinces are Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape and North West.

Aptly dubbed the battle of ‘North vs South’, the much-anticipated 2022 Twizza Super School Series National Final will take place at the Ruimsig Athletics Stadium on Saturday, February 19.

The final will boast exceptionally strong competition in the Boys’ Team Category with Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool (Affies), Hoërskool Menlopark High School, Prestige College, Paarl Boys High School and Oakdale Agricultural High School all looking to prove that they are South Africa’s best athletics school.

Launched in 2019, the Twizza Super School Series has quickly become a highlight on the schools’ athletics calendar and has one clear goal in mind – to crown SA’s best athletics school.

“I enjoy running at this event as it promotes the sport that we all love, and I am looking forward to competing against the best in the country in the 100m and 400m. My goal is to give my all as I represent my school, and as a team our goal is to do our best in every event while motivating each other. Winning overall would be a bonus,” said 18-year-old Marx Nel from Affies.

Ready to represent Oakdale Agricultural High School in the discus and shot put, 17-year-old Righardt Stander believes that the Twizza Super School Series gives athletes the opportunity to live out their passion.

“The competition is always great, but I think that the journey is also something to look forward to. I will aim to do the best I can to add to my team’s success; we are here to give it our all, and to keep Oakdale’s name high. We spend 99% of our time in the hostel so our unity and brotherhood are very high,” said Righardt.

The qualifying provinces are Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape and North West.

The event organisers will at all times adhere to government regulations regarding Covid-19.
