Welties Tennis Club encourages community to join them

“We welcome players from all levels to make contact with the club and enquire about availability, as coaching is now made more affordable to the tennis-loving person and to the parent who needs to address these costs.”

Saturday, 6 March was a great day for tennis as the hosts Weltevreden Park Tennis Club (WPTC) and Bryanston Sports Club locked horns in a Gauteng League event.

Three of the club’s teams are currently competing in the Gauteng League, and are making positive strides as member participation, attendance consistency and leadership within the club’s ranks are of critical importance.

Club Chairman Yusuf Coovadia encouraged beginners, intermediate and advanced players to join the club and be part of the tennis vibe and family-friendly atmosphere.

“In the last six months of Covid-19, WPTC has seen a spike in terms of tennis interest, not only amongst the beginners and juniors but also amongst the more advanced tennis players who are all enquiring to join with a view to participating in club, social and league tennis.

“Our special social days are designed to ensure that the club adopts an adequate growth strategy as to ensure the levels of tennis are constantly improving,” said Yusuf.

The sessions on Tuesday at 4pm to 8pm are solely for beginners, families, junior kids and mixed tennis, ensuring that parents and kids interact and participate in a relaxed level of tennis.

On Thursdays from 4pm to 8pm, the sessions are for the advanced, high-performance, hard-hitting, and inter-club tennis player who wants competitive tennis and a good workout.

The club has also embarked on a new and exciting journey, and has acquired the services of an internationally recognised tennis coach and his team.

“We welcome players from all levels to make contact with the club and enquire about availability, as coaching is now made more affordable to the tennis-loving person and to the parent who needs to address these costs,” said Yusuf.
