Good news for amateur football as SAFA allows immediate to training

Amateur football will resume in stages according to a SAFA NEC circular sent out on Tuesday, 9 February 2021.

West Rand amateur football teams, with the rest of the country’s amateur teams approached the second month of 2021 with a number of uncertainties as they were still unable to open due to the Covid-19 regulations laid down by the South African Football Association (SAFA).

However, on 9 February, SAFA has given non-professional football permission to start training with immediate effect, but to follow safety and health directives as per government regulations strictly.

The announcement gives clubs the go-ahead to commence training immediately, while amateur football leagues and competitions are said to kick off at the beginning of March.
