The founder of the Gauteng Kickboxing Association has earned his national colours not only as a boxer but also as a coach and manager.

“I started boxing at the Newville Boxing Club in 1970 at the tender age of seven under the watchful eye of a trainer named ‘Snake’ Snyman; from there on I never stopped,” said Shorne.

When he became interested in kickboxing, he found and joined the Summit Club, a kickboxing club in Johannesburg and after training hard, he won the South African kickboxing title.

“Sport teaches anyone the discipline that is needed in our everyday lives. Boxing also helps the youngsters to concentrate better in school. It is an art to be a boxer and it requires discipline,” explained Moorcroft.
