Fighters return from tournament victorious

The competition was hard and long as 800 fighters from all over South Africa entered the tournament that had participants battling it out

The Greater North 1 Tournament took place in Pretoria in March, just before the national lockdown commenced.

Local kickboxing club, Team Rage 2 had eight fighters taking part.

Ryan Botha won two gold medals in his respective divisions, while PJ Brits won gold and silver.

Rynhardt Labuschagne stood his ground like a true warrior and walked away with silver in the kick light division.

Sensei Fred Lourens managed to get two bronze medals in his two divisions, while Kiawyn Labuschagne, Levin Majiedt and Raymond Broadhurst all competed with more than eight fighters in their weight divisions.

“As a new team we did very well and had great supporters in our corners. Raymond, Levin, Kiawyn, Ryan, Sensei Fred and Zak van der Walt are some of the Team Rage 2 team members that were selected for the Central Gauteng team to represent the province at the South African Championship later this year,” a statement from the team said.
