The West Rand Darts Association is inviting residents to come and join them. They have been around for almost 60 years and plan on being around for longer.

The West Rand Darts Association has been around for nearly 60 years and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

These women, Hester Coen, Bobbo Gouws and Tanya Stols, competed in the Gauteng Darts Trials.

Earlier in March they sent six women and eight men to the West Rand Darts District Trials, and two men and all six women were chosen to compete in the Gauteng trials.

There they competed for their Gauteng colours against 12 other associations from Gauteng, in a one-on-one match for single points.

But apart from that, the club is also sending a women’s and men’s team to the South African Championships that will be taking place in Cape Town.

Ramona van Zyl and Cindy Kruger competed in the Gauteng trials.

At the moment they have 40 players in their association, but according to association rules they need 72 players. They are inviting anyone and everyone to come and join their club.

“Players can bring their families along; we make the sport for the whole family,” Ronel Hayman, association secretary, said.

Youngsters can start playing from 12 years old, and the club provides coaching and guidance for anyone who wants it.

League evenings are the first three Thursdays of the month. The last Thursday of the month is an open evening, while association and Gauteng tournaments are played on Saturdays.

But this association has a disabled team that plays in Randfontein and a masters division for those above 50.
