Friday, 28 February saw another football event where the South West Gauteng College soccer teams brought their best starting line-ups to Davidson Stadium in an attempt to settle an exciting football rivalry.

In the first match of the day, George Tabor Campus from Soweto came to collect maximum points at the expense of Molapo College who stood firm and refused to be the bullied child.

George Tabor players quickly gelled in all departments and like a hungry serpent locating its prey, it came as no surprise when they showed dominance, initiating a convoy of attacks from their creative midfielder Kabelo Mothibe.

Molapo looked dangerous from the counter as they managed to absorb the pressure exerted by their offensive opponents.

The score in the halftime break was goalless and the supporters were convinced that it was not the true reflection of the game as a lot of chances were wasted by both teams.

With George Tabor defender Mbali Mthimkhulu opting to start play from the back, more players started touching the ball, resulting in the first goal of the day being scored and putting the Soweto outfit in the lead.

Molapo put up a brave fight and started to launch some attacks of their own through the middle of the park, with midfield maestro Mandla Ngonyama proving to be a nuisance in the George Tabor defensive structure.

It came as no surprise when Molapo were rewarded for their efforts and equalised with a brilliant goal, which left the referee with no choice but to point to the centre for a restart.
