Young soccer aces dreaming of stardom

Help get Gretel and her teammates to the United States

Women’s soccer in the United States of America is the pinnacle of the female game. While the interest is growing rapidly in Europe, the home of the four-times world champions still has the greatest audience and thus enjoy the superior exposure.

Based at the Barney Gaffney Stadium in Bosmont is Bantwana College Football Club that caters exclusively for female soccer players. The shining star of this vehicle of empowerment is Gretel Buttress who is in line for a chance to showcase her talents in the United States. The club’s top goal scorer is also their 2018 and 2019 Player of the Year.

At not even 20 years old, Gretel already has high level playing time under her belt as she spent a season with Osny FC, a woman’s club located roughly an hour outside Paris. Joining Gretel on her US adventure are teammates Asante Papo, Justine George, Yumnah Bhabha and Caitlin Eastwood. In order for this dream to be realised though, these young stars need to raise R25 000 each.

This is an opportunity for these young girls, who also boast excellent academic records, to impress talent scouts and earn a scholarship to a college in the United States. Anyone looking to help these young girls fulfil their potential is encouraged to contact their coach, Theo Buttress on 072 300 1927 or at theo@bantwanacollege.co.za.
