Cycling to Cape Town for muscular dystrophy

A selfless cycle tour to raise awareness for muscular dystrophy

The Muscular Dystrophy Foundation of South Africa provides emotional support to members across five provinces. A registered non-profit organisation achieves its goal of improving the quality of life of people affected by muscular dystrophy and neuromuscular diseases through the dedicated efforts of their social work team.

The Foundation, with its headquarters at the Gauteng branch, rely on volunteers and the support of donors who care for the welfare and charitable endeavours it undertakes. Doing their part for the Foundation are three avid cyclists and adventurers, Angelos Frantzeskos, Cindy Frantzeskos and Karan Singh who, from 26 February, will embark on a 10-day journey from Johannesburg to Cape Town in a bid to raise awareness about muscular dystrophy.

This will be the seventh time this particular challenge will be accepted, with Angelos Frantzeskos again taking up his role as team leader on the 1 400km trip. Angelos has been a long-time supporter of the Foundation and their simple goal to create awareness about muscular dystrophy, while simultaneously generating funds in order for them to continue rendering their services.

The Gauteng branch, located in Florida Park, also offers help and information with assistive devices such as motorised wheelchairs and bath lifts, should the necessary funds be available.
