KJK Judokas make their coach proud during trials

The judokas participated in two sets of trials which included the individual fighting and Kata categories.

Ten judokas from the KJK Judo Club did very well at this year’s first National Championship Trials from 7 to 10 January in Uitenhage.

They participated in two sets of trials which included the individual fighting and Kata categories.

Results of the National Fighting Championships Trials:

• Shawwal Bagaria (Cadet) achieved a first place

• Dewald Schultz (Junior) achieved a first place

• Gerhard Schultz (Senior) achieved a first place

• Keagan Stephens (Cadet) achieved a second place

• Moagi Molefe (Cadet) achieved a third place

• Louw Schultz (Senior) achieved a third place

• Carla Venter (Cadet) achieved a second place

Results for the National Kata Championships Trials:

• Nage No Kata:

Raydon Diab and Dewald achieved a second place while Moagi and Shawwal achieved an overall fifth place

• Katame No Kata:

Raydon and Garren Diab achieved an overall first place

• Kime No Kate:

Louw and Gerhard achieved an overall second place

• Juno No Kata:

Raydon and Dewald achieved an overall first place

Teams will be selected in both categories to participate in the African Championships, and Commonwealth teams will be selected after the South African Championships in June.
