Free self defence classes empower Ruimsig women

Not only do these classes make one feel more prepared for possible attack situations, they are also a great way to blow off steam and leave you feeling empowered and positive.

On Saturday, 1 February a large number of women attend the free self-defence classes offered by Triple Threat Kick Boxing Club.

Eager students showed up in their gym attire and wasted no time in getting into the ring to learn and understand some useful self-defence moves.

“By learning and practising the moves the students will be equipped with certain grappling techniques for self-defence and simulations of real life scenarios where you can use these self-defence strikes and techniques,” said Gym owner Wade Rendal.

Doreen Vorster said, “I am now more confident in defending myself against an attacker, the lessons are necessary for us women as we all know the current crime situation in our country. I am recommending the lessons to all the women out there, it is not a waste of time.”

“I have always been worried about how I would react in a situation where I was forced to defend myself. After attending the self-defence classes, I can say that I am no longer worried. I am prepared,” said Chantel Snyman.

The one hour class takes place every Saturday at 10am and classes are limited to 20 people per class so bookings are essential.
