Inter-house rivalry reveals swimming aces

2020 set to be a year to remember in the pool

All great swimming seasons start with sorting through the pack to identify the individuals that will lead the school to glory. That sorting comes in the way of the annual inter-house gala, which Constantia Kloof Primary School held on Monday, 27 January.

Proud parents packed the school’s pool area to cheer on their hydrodynamic children and enjoy the inter-house spirit. Constantia Kloof Primary’s houses are named after areas in the Cape that tie into the school’s heritage associated with South Africa’s oldest wine farm, Groot Constantia.

Robertson, Wolsley, Montagu and Wellington pushed each other all the way, with Wellington the eventual winner, amassing an insurmountable 552 points. Standout swimmers on the day were Tristan Alderman and Zoë Saville who won the Junior boys and girls Individual Medley, respectively. Swimming his way to both the Senior Individual Medley and Senior Victor Ludorum was Kyle Evans, and repeating the feat for girls was Senior Victrix Lodorum, Katie van Zyl.

Head of Sport at Constantia Kloof Primary, Rudi van Dyk, was happy with the success of the day and is looking forward to a competitive season. “We saw some great talent on show today and we look forward to testing ourselves against the best the other schools have to offer,” Rudi said confidently.

A school that has always taken pride in being competitive, all the indications are that they will be mixing it with the best in 2020.
