Double gold for local kickboxer

Jay fought under 69kg in two Tatami events and impressively won gold medals in both divisions.

 

Learmore Jay Momberume of Triple Threat Kickboxing Club competed at a kickboxing event on Saturday 19 October 2019 at the Danie van Zyl recreation centre in Newlands.

Jay fought in the U/69kg division in two Tatami events, and impressively won gold medals in both divisions.

He has been competing in kickboxing events for the past 16 months and remains undefeated after 12 fights.

Jay said, “I am so happy with the double win; it really means a lot to me as I see the victory as a result of the hard work I have put in. I hope to continue fighting well and putting the dojo on the map.”

The hard-kicking champ who fights under the Tripple Threat Kickboxing Club in Ruimsig is also an assistant at the dojo, coaching fighters and clients.

Club owner, Sensei Wade Rendall said, “I am extremely proud of what Jay has achieved. I have encouraged him to stay humble and keep progressing as a fighter.”

Jay has been a big part of the growth of the dojo and will be taking over the kids kickboxing development classes from next year.
