Another Guinness World Record for Johan van Tonder

The Horison-based runner celebrated another successful Guinness World Record attempt.

On Saturday, 19 October, a Horison-based runner, Johan van Tonder, broke yet another Guinness World Record. In November of 2018, Johan broke the record for the longest distance run on a treadmill in 12 hours. He ran a total of 163km in just under 11 hours, breaking the record by 14km.

This year he aimed for another record in the Treadmill Category: the fastest 100km on a treadmill (male). The previous record-holder had a time of 6 hours 21 minutes and 40 seconds. Johan managed to break the World Record by completing his 100km run in 6 hours, 8 minutes, and 23 seconds.

Surrounded by his supporters (human and canine), Johan refused to give up. Another treadmill was set up alongside him for his friends to run next to him in support. The attempt officially started at 8am at 3DimensionFitness at Hoërskool Florida.

All the evidence has been submitted to Guinness for Johan’s record to be verified. Video and photo evidence, along with witness statements have been sent to Guinness to make his win official.
