Female soccer star on the rise

In 2017 she was called up to play for the under 20 South African team, known as Basetsana, and represented her country with flying colours.

 

Faa-iqah Hartley, the 21-year-old women soccer player from Fleurhof has a bright future in the male-dominated sport that is loved across the globe.

Faa-iqah’s current position is central midfielder for the University of Johannesburg, which competes in the National Women’s League.

She made her Varsity Cup debut in 2017 when she was only 19 years old, and from there she never looked back as she continued to excel.

Faa-iqah said, “I started playing at the age of 13 for a club named Palmeros FC. From there I moved to a number of teams until the age of 17 when I was scouted by the University of Johannesburg (UJ), and I have played here ever since.”

In 2017 she was called up to play for the under 20 South African team, known as Basetsana, and represented her country with flying colours.

Last year the rising soccer star was impressive to the extent that she was named the Most Improved Player at UJ.
