Wrestling fans entertained at Hoo Hoo Festival

New SA Champion crowned in main event

The Honour Wrestling Association (HWA) Wrestlers had the crowd cheering and clapping in support during their show at the recent Hoo Hoo Festival in Florida.

The first match of the day saw the Rebel Squad, consisting of Quinn and Azazel, in a tag-team match against The Bandit and Blade. The match was fast-paced with the wrestlers producing some high-flying action, but, in the end, the Rebel Squad was victorious after receiving some assistance from their companion, Barb Wire.

The second match saw The Italian Stallion, Johnny Palazio, taking on Mad Jack, who had clearly lost a few marbles on the way to the fight, as he continued talking to his mask, which he left in the corner. The Italian Stallion showed why he was such a feared opponent in the ring and dominated the fight. But, in a split second of lost concentration, Mad Jack landed a super-kick to his opponent’s jaw, resulting in him taking home a victory via pin fall.

The co-main event was an exciting match up between the South African champion, Ultimate Nathan and The Ripper. The match saw both wrestlers giving it all, and will certainly be labelled as the match of the year. The crowd were on the edge of their seats, nervously biting their nails, while cheering their favourite on, as the two wrestlers took turns to dominate.

But, The Ripper’s frustration at not being able to beat Ultimate Nathan saw him taking a baseball bat to his opponent, which left the referee, Eric, with no other choice than to disqualify him for the use of an illegal weapon, resulting in a victory for Ultimate Nathan, and another ‘W’ behind his name.

The show was concluded with the main event – a triple-threat match between HWA World Champion Nightmare, Hector Payne and Steve Eden.

Steve Eden quickly pounced on Hector Payne and Nightmare, in an attempt to regain the title he lost in 2018, much to the delight of the crowd, which gave him their unwavering support.

Nightmare quickly realised that he had to team up with Hector Payne if he wanted any chance of victory, which resulted in an unhappy crowd, which showed their dismay with loud jeers.

Nightmare had the opportunity to take the victory after a well-executed Dream Invader manoeuvre, but decided to attack Hector Payne instead. Hector saw him coming a mile off, and pulled down the ropes to send Nightmare flying out of the ring. He then grabbed the opportunity with both hands, and quickly went to the top rope. He came splashing down on Steve Eden with a frog-splash and was awarded the victory via pin fall, resulting in him becoming the new World Champion.

What will happen next? Will Nightmare take revenge on Hector Payne? Is there a title shot in the pipeline for The Ripper? Will the Rebel Squad be able to dominate the Tag-Team Division? Will Ultimate Nathan recover in time to defend his South African title?
