It was a night filled with a lot of entertainment, social dancing and fun

It was a glitzy affair at the Roodepoort Fred Astaire’s Annual Awards evening and Showcase event, themed ‘Dancing with our Stars’, which took place recently.

This event is held in order to recognise and reward the hard work, dedication and talent of the students, as well as the instructors, who train at the studio.

The event is also a platform for the students to perform their showcase dance, which highlights what they have learnt through the year. The students were also presented with a challenge from one of the dance instructors to produce a brand-new showcase dance – in only three days – which they performed at the awards evening.

There were many awards in different categories, but the highlight for the evening was definitely the award for the Student of the Year, which was awarded to Danielle Harris, 15, in recognition of her outstanding performance for the past year.

Other awards that were also handed out include Top Dad for 2018 and Most Inspiring Student of the Year.

The evening was concluded with the showcase dances, performed by the students, ensuring it was a night to remember with a lot of entertainment, social dancing and fun.
