The event will take place at 1 Coronation Street, Krugersdorp from 9am to 11.30am and those who will be participating should come in sport clothes and closed shoes (takkies or soccer boots).

Junior Mwale, the area manager and coach at Roodepoort ESS, said, “It has been a year since the launch of ESS Roodepoort, and I started off with only one boy, Bonginkosi ‘General’ Ndlela. He was the blueprint for the team and gave me hope and belief that this could go somewhere, and I was not wrong.”

He added that the club has grown by leaps and bounds, and, by the end of last year, they sported two U/13 teams, as well as teams in the U/7, U/9, U/11, U/15 and U/17 age categories.

For Junior, the highlight of the year was the U/7s and U14s winning their first-ever tournament, and the U/9s and U/11s reaching the finals of the same tournament. “Even though we did not win the games, it was a great achievement nonetheless. Our first year-end prize-giving was also quite special, as the players received a reward for their hard work and dedication,” Junior said.

He concluded by saying, “We are looking forward to what promises to be a great year, and I cannot wait for the new players to join, as we have a tournament taking place in Cape Town. We would definitely want to send our strongest possible teams.”
