Golden Drifters take third consecutive title

After 19 games, with one in hand, they already stood on 93 goals, and average 4,89 goals per game.

Golden Drifters Football Academy’s U/15 team won their third consecutive title in the Mogale City Local Football Association league structures after also winning in 2016 and 2017.

Golden Drifters Academy’s junior side is one of the strongest development teams within the Johannesburg North and MCLFA Stream C Development League structures. The club was established in 2011 and the U/15 team had won the league twice prior to this year, with their previous league victories coming as U/13s and U/14s.

Golden Drifters as a whole only joined an MCLFA league in 2014, three years after its formation in 2011. Ever since their inception into the association’s league structures the club has dominated the junior development leagues.

Nothing changed this year, as the now U/15 side boasts a hat-trick of league victories. At the start of the league, the team set a goal for themselves to score a total of 100 goals for the season. After 19 games, with one in hand, they already stood on 93 goals, and average 4,89 goals per game. The team secured the title with two games to go, and heading into their final fixture they were seven points ahead of second-placed Eleven Attackers Football Club.
