HWA pays tribute to wrestling legend, Kwaito Kid

‘He was a wrestler with a lot of charisma’

“Rest in peace, Kwaito Kid, it was a great honour to have wrestled with and against you, brother. You will be missed in the wrestling community.

“The wrestling world will have to wait a long time before it will be able to deliver another wrestler with so much charisma,” said Steve Eden from Honour Wrestling Association (HWA).

Zama Njokweni, known as Kwaito Kid in the ring, passed away from multiple organ failure in a Johannesburg hospital on the evening of 14 October, leaving an empty space in many hearts.

Steve described him as someone who had loads of talent and who had won multiple titles throughout the years. “He captivated the audience with his wrestling style and the legendary kwaito dance he performed on his way to the ring. He was very humble and to us he was more than a wrestler; he was our friend and brother who will be sorely missed by all.”

Another HWA wrestler, George Wilhelm, also known as Xterminator, said, “Rest in peace my brother, Zama Njokweni (Kwaito Kid). It is a very sad day for me as we were friends for a very long time. My heart is extremely heavy as you are not with us anymore. We grew as a family and all the memories I have of you will last me a lifetime. You were a humble and friendly person with a heart of gold, and you were loved by all your fans and all the wrestlers.”

Steve concluded by saying, “Our next show, which will be taking place on 27 October in Leeudoringstad, will be a tribute to Kwaito Kid.”
